“Let all things now living a song of thanksgiving, to God the Creator triumphantly raise. Who fashioned and made us, protected and stayed us, who guides us and leads to the end of our days. God’s banners fly o’er us; God’s light goes before us, a pillar of fire shining forth in the night, till shadows have vanished and darkness is banished, as forward we travel from light into light.”
Sunday the choir shared their gift of song proclaiming the good news of Thanksgiving! What a blessing to unite together in song and praise.
The psalms remind us that times of thanksgiving have been occurring for millennia:
All Lands Summoned to Praise God
A Psalm of thanksgiving.
1 Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth.
2 Worship the Lord with gladness;
come into his presence with singing.
3 Know that the Lord is God.
It is he that made us, and we are his;
we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving,
and his courts with praise.
Give thanks to him, bless his name.
5 For the Lord is good;
his steadfast love endures forever,
and his faithfulness to all generations.
We pause to give thanks to the creator for food, shelter, health, family, the harvest…It is God who created, God who sustains, and God who gives hope for tomorrow. I give thanks to the loving God whose rainbow covenant from the time of Noah continues to connect us as one beloved creation. I give thanks to God for Jesus’ gift of eternal life. I give thanks for blessings small and mighty, for butterflies, for white sweet potatoes, for shelter, for each one of you. You make a difference in my life!
