Gratitude Filled Lives

Winthrop Baptist Church Enews November 3, 2017

FALL BACK!! Remember to set your clocks back one hour this weekend! An opportunity awaits for an extra hour of sleep, rest, or joy.

The traditional moment of pause for Thanksgiving is three weeks away. That Thursday will for many not look like a picture-perfect image of extended family gathered around an abundant table. Nor will many look like the Thanksgiving tablescape introduced to us by Charles Shultz in A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving where friends gathered around a ping-pong table with popcorn, toast and jelly beans. Many will work, others will spend the day alone, and others will struggle with family dynamics. With that reality of imperfection how will we live grateful lives today?

It’s taken me years to unwrap the notion of gratitude as something that has nothing to do with getting what I want! Having grateful hearts requires no action from anyone else and no perfect pumpkin pie.

During the month of November we will be exploring the concept of giving thanks as a personal action and way of being. Thanksgiving may be three weeks away, but right now, today, how will we raise our voices in praise?

Sunday we gather to worship, share in the Lord’s Supper, pray and study God’s word from 1 Thessalonians 2:9-13. All are welcome. Come as you are. I’m grateful for you!

Grace and peace my friends,

Amy
